So, if you wanted a secular copybook for your young children, what kinds of things would you like to see in it? Poetry, quotes from classical literature, quotes from historical figures ... other ideas? Do you look for items of beauty for copywork, or items of moral/ethical inspiration?

Classical maxims would be high on my list; I'd also be interested in "quotable quotes" from historical figures or literature. If I had to choose, I'd go for pithy moral tidbits over beautiful language, but it doesn't have to be either/or, of course. -Mungo

To answer your questions, yes. :-)
I'd want an assortment of things that are uplifting, encouraging, beautiful, instructive, and humorous. I'd want things that inspire the kids to be their best as well as teach them tidbits of history or science or poetry.
