Crisis averted.

Y'all know what happened, don't you? That scheduling thing jumped up and had me by the throat before I knew what was happening. Don't worry, I've beaten it back down. I will not worry about history. I will do what I darned well please and not even think about how long it might or might not take.

What that means, for now, is we stick with Story of the World. After we finish the current book, we take some time off to do U.S. geography and Texas history. With luck, we'll even manage field trips (oooh! aaaah! ohhh!).

We'll stick with SOTW 4 for next year, and start Memoria Press' Classical Studies as well. And Classical Writing. And R.E.A.L. Science. I may be being over ambitious here, but we'll see. If it's too much I can assign Connor the MP texts to read to himself, and Aidan can read them later when Aidan can read them. Plus, R.E.A.L. science will be a very, very casual thing, done only to satisfy the child who demands that we "do school science."

We'll stick with doing history in chronological order, and whenever we finish with SOTW 4 we'll start over with the ancients. My logic stage kiddos will read, learn how to write about history, and make timelines. They'll have to be much more on their own, while I read other books to the shorter ones.

Good plan? Yes. It is.

My next challenge is to continue to fight the overwhelming desire to make huge book lists. I do solemnly swear that I will "assign" no more than four works of literature in any given year, and no more than two classical works. No pressure. Take your time. And when you want more, we've got plenty. I'll put that mental energy into stocking the library instead.

Out of curiosity, I went to our local high school's web page to see what their students read in English class. Each grade had a link to the Lit. text book. Very helpful, that. No reading lists.

On another note: those of you who use Blogger, how do you upload images?

You have them stored online already or do you need a host? If you need a host, I use photobucket, but any of the ones that allow hyperlinking would work well.

Then just type in the IMG SRC code thingy. Or switch views in your compose post window and there's an "insert image" button. :-)

YAY for you for figuring out your schedule. I look to you for guidance, you know, so I know what I'll need to panic over and what you've already covered. ;-)

Thanks and thanks, Dy. Why panic when I can do it for you? ;-)
